Tempo Group of Companies

Social and Ethical Compliance Program

The Tempo Group places the utmost importance on operating a legal and ethical business which contributes economically and in other ways to society.

All Tempo Group employees, contractors and suppliers must comply with and uphold all laws promoting social and ethical compliance (SEC) in all jurisdictions where the Tempo Group operates and take all practical steps to ensure that agents, contractors and intermediaries or business partners do not engage in conduct on our behalf that would contravene these requirements.

Our SEC Program

We work to continuously improve the quality and safety of our products and comply with all mandatory standards and reporting requirements globally.

Our approach to quality and safety is underpinned by a comprehensive quality and compliance framework, which outlines the requirements expected of our suppliers, manufacturers, buyers, agents, and quality teams.

This also extends to sourcing our products ethically.

In the 2014 financial year we implemented a number of measures aimed at enhancing working conditions and safety in supplier factories, including a strengthened SEC Program and team.

Core to this program is the aggressive audit of our supplier’s factories and workplace conditions. The most common issues identified during audits included excessive overtime and incomplete or inadequate records. A corrective action plan is provided to all factories that fail to meet our SEC Program and follow-up audits are scheduled to ensure compliance.

In order to strengthen our approach in line with international standards any supplier who fails to adhere to the following key SEC areas will be deregistered, meaning no further orders will be placed:

  1. Health and safety

We are committed to the health and safety of all workers throughout the supply chain through the provision of a safe working environment and safe methods of work including the safe handling of chemicals, accurate signage and waste management practices.

  2. Employment Law

We will not tolerate discrimination, child labour or any form of forced labour practices. Additionally, we expect our Suppliers to maintain accurate employment and payroll records which ensure that work is performed legally and ethically.

  3. Bribery

All Tempo Group trade partners must comply with and uphold laws against bribery and corruption in all jurisdictions and take all practical steps to ensure that agents, contractors or intermediaries do not engage in conduct on our behalf that would contravene these requirements
